Elgato HD60 S External Full HD Video Game Capture

Elgato has been one of the premier names in the capture card industry for awhile now, with multiple products on the market. The Elgato Game Capture HD60 S is a high quality capture card. I STRONGLY recommend this product to any live streamer or content creator. Once you've installed the Elgato Game Capture software and plugged the HD60 S into your compatible PC or laptop's USB 3.0 port, then you can start recording and streaming using Elgato's own software, or a third-party program like OBS.

Both in their own software, as well as under OBS and XSplit the Elgato HD60 S worked perfectly. The Game Capture HD60 S can record PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Wii U gameplay to a Windows PC via a HDMI pass-through. It is not a top quality capture card like other capture cards listed in this post, but it does record video through HDMI and other component resources.

On relatively static video, the HD60 provides stunning results, pretty much indistinguishable from the raw output of the console itself. Both PCs and Macs are supported by Elgato's official software, but there's no word on Linux support. It is easy to add a webcam, overlay, picture in picture, or other features to a live stream with the AVerMedia Live Gamer Extreme.

Stream Command provides live streaming through popular services such as Twitch, uStream and YouTube, three of the biggest sites for gaming videos. Audio Mix-In - The Live Gamer Extreme allows users to add music to their stream on the fly. It can also record, even in 1080p60, but it's been specifically developed as a streaming device.

BTW, something I forgot to mention in the Ripsaw review also, the way I measured (using loopback), even if there is next-to-zero latency i.e. I use the recording software to measure the screen, I will still get 1 frame of latency, simply because you can't record a screen before its contents appear, and then you can only update the result on the next refresh.

Recording at 1080p and 60fps is definitely no small feat and it's a great way to get high-quality video for your streams or elgato hd60 streamlabs obs other video needs. USB 2.0, not USB 3.0 - This capture card comes with a USB 2.0 interface, even though 3.0 is the better standard today and this will put some limitations on the smooth experience of live broadcasting with this card.

A quick demonstration of footage captured using the Elgato Game Capture HD 60 on an Xbox One. Accompanying editing software is limited - If you're taking a professional approach to streaming and video-making, you will require many more editing options than what the stock software provides.
